Surface Treatment: Slips and Underglazes – Intermediate

Learn how to design forms for decoration, apply slip, and experiment with carving and sgraffito. Explore how slip behaves at different stages of drying and learn to add underglaze to bone-dry pieces for vibrant, detailed results. Clay, slips, underglaze and bisque firing of your work is included; bring 2–3 bone-dry pieces for underglaze application. This class is suited to experienced students who are comfortable working independently on the wheel and can throw a balanced cylinder.
