Place des Arts provides a friendly, non-competitive environment where creativity and innovation can flourish. We offer classes in drawing, painting, fibre and ceramics for all ages.

Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media

We offer classes for those who want to try something new and experienced artists in a wide variety of classes offered by experienced and talented teachers.

Fibre Arts

Fibre arts classes for children introduce them to weaving, felting and more. Adult fibre arts classes help students develop their weaving, spinning and other textile skills. Our fibre studio features a variety of table and floor looms, as well as spinning wheels. Registered students can sign up for studio time to practice using our looms and/or spinning wheels.

Fibre arts equipment loan policy

Registered students may borrow equipment to take home but must sign a contract and pay a refundable deposit of $50 on small equipment and $100 on large equipment. A non-refundable fee of $5 will be charged per session to help cover the cost of repairs and maintenance of loaned equipment.

Pottery

We have classes for kids, teens and adults to develop and hone their skills in handbuilding and wheel throwing.

Place des Arts is equipped with a mid-fire stoneware facility consisting of three spaces: the manufacturing area, the glazing area and the kiln room. Three electric kilns of varying sizes and one gas kiln offer the option of both oxidation and reduction firing. Open studio time is included for students registered in pottery classes. Clay must be purchased from Place des Arts, and a supply list is available at the registration desk.

To figure out what program is right for you, contact our registration desk at 604.664.1636 ext. 0 or visit our ActiveNet Registration site where you can filter our class offerings by date, time, teacher and age of student. Some classes require students to purchase supplies.
