Reasons To Give

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to help us remove financial barriers to the arts. Every contribution, no matter the amount or frequency, makes a difference to low-income children and families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in the arts.

Your donation can help us:

  • Provide subsidies, bursaries and no-cost community programs to make arts accessible for in-need children and families.
  • Purchase art supplies, materials and equipment
  • Engage professional artists and instructors who deliver high-quality programming to the community.
  • Expand our outreach and engagement programs, bringing art to even more people in our community.

I owe so much to the PdA community because it has shaped my identity and career as an artist. When I was a kid, my elementary class went on a field trip here and explored various art materials. Creating art alongside others was such a pleasurable experience that really stuck with me. It was only one event, but this one fond memory led me back to PdA more than a decade later.

During my bachelor’s, I contemplated my career and asked myself “What is really important to me?” My answer: Making art and connecting with others. So I made a goal to get into a master’s for counselling psychology and art therapy. Part of the requirement to be accepted into that program was to have more than 270 hours of art-making at a studio in the community. Then I remembered PdA and my time there as a kid.

I couldn’t think of a better place to make art! I took classes for oil painting, acrylics, watercolours, and pottery. The teachers, other classmates, and staff not only refined my skills as an artist but showed me that I had a place to belong. With the help of PdA, I eventually accomplished my dream and I’ll graduate next year as a clinical counsellor and art therapist!
