Under professional director Molly Beatrice, a company of up to 10 young actors ages 15-18 (must be 15 by July 12, 2021) will select three of Grimm’s Fairy Tales and reimagining them through the lens of the present day. The pieces will take shape depending on the interests and values of the cast. This will be a collaborative project with an emphasis on learning ensemble building, methods of theatre creation and performance skills.

Audition Details—Video Submissions | Submit by: Saturday, May 1, 2021

Send in a video submission with the following:

  • Quick introduction: your name, pronouns (optional), anything you want to say about yourself
  • One contemporary monologue (1-3 minutes in length)
  • Creative Challenge: tell your favourite fairy tale in 2-5 minutes. You can pick any fairy tale/folk tale, but you have to change the ending. It’s entirely up to you how you change the ending — how you hoped it would have ended, how you thought it was going to end when you first heard it, how it would end if it was a comedy/tragedy/sci-fi/horror/etc. It can go anywhere that your imagination takes you! Tell us the story from start to finish with your new ending, it should be 2-5 minutes and does not need to be memorized.
Note: Do not worry about the quality of recording, a smartphone works great. If you do not have access to a video camera/phone camera/ etc., please get in touch and we will find an alternate arrangement for your audition.
We are looking for young actors with a strong commitment to the piece and a willingness to have fun! We value anti-racist, anti-oppressive and accessible practice. We encourage applications from BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and/or neurodiverse artists.

Callbacks will take place in the evening on Friday, May 15, 2021.
