Join us on May 24 for a concert and visual arts activity - just for adults! Find out More

The safety of our Place des Arts community is our priority, and as such, we continue to closely monitor the emerging information regarding COVID-19 as per the Fraser Health Authority and the BC Centre for Disease Control.

While the COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly around the world, it is important to note that the BC Centre for Disease Control continues to affirm that risk to people in British Columbia and the rest of Canada remains low at this time. However, we understand that there is great concern about the impact of further spread of COVID-19 and we have been taking additional precautions as recommended by the Fraser Health Authority.

Spring Break Camp

Currently, our Spring Break program will proceed. However, as the situation is evolving rapidly, the status of the camp may change. Please keep checking our website news section and social media channels. If Place des Arts decides to cancel the camp, parents and students will be immediately informed via email.

Classes and private lessons

Currently, our classes and private lessons are running as usual. Again, as the situation is evolving rapidly, their status may change. Please keep checking our website news section and social media channels. Students and parents will be informed of any changes via email.

Place des Arts has decided to cancel the upcoming concert, Humours of Love, on April 4, 2020.

Withdrawal Requests, Missed classes and/or private lessons

We encourage everyone to do their own personal risk assessment before attending our programs. At this time, our withdrawal and cancellation policies in place will remain. Read more here. However, we will evaluate our policies in consideration of the current situation. We will notify parents and students of any updates as they become available.

Attending programs after returning from travel outside of Canada

As of March 12, 2020, the BC Ministry of Health has announced new actions and preventive measures.

They are advising against all non-essential travel outside of Canada, including to the United States. If you do travel outside of Canada, you are asked to self-isolate for 14 days upon your return to BC. This is completely voluntary, but Place des Arts asks all students or visitors to our facility to take this recommendation seriously.

The BC Centre for Disease Control has clear instructions for self-isolation, which means you need to stay at home and avoid contact with others. The BC Ministry of Health has related that they continue widespread testing by screening BC travellers with symptoms and their close contacts, to identify cases of COVID-19 early.

Encourage everyone to follow prevention practices as communicated by the public health authorities:

  • hand-washing for at least 20 seconds using soap and water
  • Staying at home when you are sick

Place des Arts will continue to frequently clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces. See our previous statement with more details here. Please continue to follow the following sites for the most up-to-date information:
