Since our facility will be closed until June 30, we are excited to be offering online opportunities that can be enjoyed from homeOur goal is to encourage the Place des Arts community to continue participating in the arts and invite new audiences to engage with us during the pandemic.   

PLACE DES ARTS EXHIBITIONS GO DIGITAL 

Audiences can view our current exhibitions on our Exhibitions page. Currently, we have on Coquitlam Heritage’s Civilian Impressions: Remnants of Conflict, Elsa Chesnel’s Figurative Abstractions, Lyn Tretiak’s Rural Ukraine Today, and a digital pop-up exhibition Westcoast Homeland by Faye Gordon-LewisThese digital exhibitions include a “Behind the Artwork” section featuring exclusive content from the artists. We will also have our May exhibitions up on May 1. Find out more. 

ONLINE CLASSES AND PRIVATE LESSONS FOR YEAR-LONG DANCE, THEATRE AND MUSIC STUDENTS  

This past month Place des Arts has been busy connecting our teachers and students to continue their classes and private lessons via live streaming or video instruction.  It’s not too late for current students to opt-in for online learning.  Email info@placedesarts.ca to find out if your teacher is conducting online lessons and/or classes. 

NEW ONLINE VISUAL ART SERIES: ABSTRACT ART WITH MARLENE LOWDEN

Explore the mysterious world of abstract art in Place des Arts’ first online visual arts seriesJoin artist and educator Marlene Lowden to discover how artists use the elements of design to express themselves while experimenting with materials you have at home. Through a series of fun activities, you will be introduced to each element of design and learn how to interpret these elements when viewing abstract art. This video series is suitable for all ages and ability levels. Gather your household or tune in with friends virtually and begin creating! The first video in this series of five videos will be available on Place des Arts’ public YouTube channel on April 23If you want to continue learning with Marlene, you can register for this online series to receive access to all 5 videos. Registration for Abstract Art with Marlene Lowden will open on April 23, and a new video will be released each week.
