Meet teacher, Kelly Dycavinu

Kelly is a writer, artist and life-long learner based in Vancouver, BC. She holds a BFA in Creative Writing (UBC), an MA in Theological Studies (Regent College) and is currently working towards an MEd in Counselling Psychology (UBC). Kelly’s poetry and short stories have received prizes and publication both online and in print. Kelly delights in creating learning environments that are safe and inclusive, where there is freedom to learn and grow, explore and experiment, contribute and connect. Kelly takes a holistic approach to her instruction methods and teaches not only writing skills and craft but also gleans from psychology, neuroscience and other related disciplines to help writers navigate blocks and barriers to achieve breakthroughs.

For Children

Fiction Writing (13 – 15 years)

Explore some of the most popular fictional genres: fantasy, science fiction, mystery and thrillers. Learn to identify genre techniques and test them out in your fictional stories. Discover how to shift perspectives, invent complex fictional worlds, leave clues for a reader and create twists and turns that will shock and inspire.
