Artist Statement
I express my passion for nature by sharing my intricately stitched art pieces that can be described as embroidered art quilts. I love hand embroidery and I combine various techniques to keep the viewer guessing as to how the work was made. My values are closely tied to making and working with my hands. I use a mechanical sewing machine to stitch the background fabric scraps together, but most of my art making is done with a needle and thread passing through my fingers, and cutting shapes of coloured fabric with small sharp scissors.
I have explored the theme of moonlight in the garden for this series of petite embroidered art quilts. It’s a dream-like meeting of botany and moonlight and the subject of my most recent article in Art Quilting Studio magazine, autumn 2025.
