As a quiet person, my artwork is an expression of the loud parts of myself I don’t feel comfortable with yet. My art is everything I want to be sometimes. I like to use bold lines and contrasting colours to imitate strong feelings and give my pieces a large presence. The composition of my pieces uses long slashing and drawn-out visual lines to keep the eye moving almost frantically across the piece. I like the imagery of explosions and bursts of movement because they are sudden and make my art feel brash. Experimenting with different techniques and mediums gives me the opportunity to explore the wide range of emotions each medium can encompass. Imagery like surrounding, suppressing or hiding oneself appears often in my artwork, only furthering the idea of a choked and desperate form of self-expression that I like to include in my art.
