Biography

JJ is a Vancouver based illustrator and graphic designer working across brand identity, visual storytelling, and public art. Graduated from Emily Carr University’s illustration program, JJ has partnered with a diverse range of clients to shape their visual identities, while contributing public artworks to Vancouver’s streets and spaces. Rooted in a belief that impactful work connects with people on a personal level, JJ creates with both the maker’s and the audience’s eye.

JJ remains committed to arts education and a growing personal practice driven by curiosity and a desire to tell stories that resonate.

Artist Statement

There is a quiet choreography to the everyday errand, one we perform so routinely we’ve stopped noticing its parts.

Errands slows that rhythm down. The work turns attention to the small, overlooked moments that fill an ordinary day, the details we move through without pause, and everything we miss in the process.

What have we glossed over in our hurry to get through it? This work looks for meaning in the in-between.
