I’m an overthinker. Behind every decision I make are stressed-out neurons anxiously mulling over the same thought again and again. Creating art calms my loud thoughts into a singular goal, a singular idea. This is why a lot of my art focuses on my inner self. It’s a way for me to process my regrets and worries, and to look at the life I’ve lived in a new way. Have I spent too much time on academics and too little on art? Have I stayed in my comfort zone for far too long and will this be my downfall?

By playing around with interesting perspectives and striking conceptual contrast, I want to draw viewers into my world. I want people who might have had similar experiences to find comfort in the fact that they are not alone, and those who have not had similar experiences to spend a quiet moment in my shoes.

As I grow as both a person and an artist, I plan to continue to create art that communicates a story and message, which is why I am applying to the Visual Arts “Ideas Program” for a Bachelor’s in Design at Capilano University.
