In my years of artmaking, I have been motivated by a need for self-expression. As I grew older, more of my pieces became an outlet for some of my more personal thoughts, rather than fantastical imagination, so I developed a personal connection with my experiences in artmaking, seeing it more as a means of freedom of expression. I also wanted to make art to contribute back to my community in the same way it has inspired me with a fascination of the visual form of expression.

Across my works, there appears to be a recurring style of explosive-like visual composition. I suspect this is the result of influence from the busy urban environments I’ve grown up in, in addition to my tendency to want to exaggerate and animate my art, such as in bringing flow, energy and motion to my subjects, like bringing bits of my life into them.

I hope that by studying art, I can successfully provide the means of expression to bring to life what the mind imagines or thinks. I’m in the process of applying to Emily Carr University, Vancouver Film School, and I aim to become a 2D concept artist for games or animation.
