Place des Arts’ annual Holiday Artisan Shop gives shoppers plenty of time to find exquisite, handmade, one-of-a-kind gifts for the holidays.

Explore finely handcrafted housewares, accessories, skincare, décor, cards, ornaments and more made by local artisans.

All proceeds from sales support the artists, with partial proceeds helping Place des Arts offer accessible programming.

Admission is FREE.

CALL FOR ARTISANS: Place des Arts’ Holiday Artisan Shop

Place des Arts (PdA) is seeking original, quality hand-crafted items for our Holiday Artisan Shop which runs from Friday, November 14, 2025, to Thursday, December 18, 2025.

We are specifically seeking items such as mouth blown glass drinking vessels, 100% beeswax candles, functional and well-made ceramics and anything else that is well-executed and made locally in the Lower Mainland. The Shop will not accept paintings, prints or photographs, greeting cards, jewellery or crafts made from kits. Items are not required to be holiday themed.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Complete the online application and upload up to five (5) high-resolution digital photos (minimum of 300dpi) of your artworks for adjudication by Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 5:00 PM
  • Alternative methods of applying may be considered. Please email artisanshop@placedesarts.ca and we will do our best to accommodate you.

SELECTION PROCESS

All submitted artworks will be reviewed and juried by Place des Arts’ Artisan Shop Committee comprised of three qualified Place des Arts staff.

Artworks are juried based on the following criteria and in consideration of our current Shop inventory:

  • Quality of each artwork (i.e., materials and technical execution)
  • Originality of each artwork (unique, one-of-a-kind))
  • Suitability (is content/subject matter suitable for a public space and all audiences)

Artisans will be notified of the status of their application by Monday, October 20; all decisions of the jury are final.

ACCEPTED ARTISANS

  • The Artisan Shop Coordinator will schedule an appointment with accepted artisans on the Artwork Drop-Off Date: November 2.
  • an Artisan Shop Agreement and Artwork Inventory Sheets will be emailed in advance
  • The signed Artisan Shop Agreement completed Artwork Inventory Sheet(s) must be submitted when artworks are dropped off. A $10 application fee is payable at this time.

ARTWORKS

  • All artworks are for sale and artisans set sale prices.
  • PdA retains 30% of the retail price. When pricing your artwork, make sure you factor the 30% retention into the retail price. Sales tax will be added to the artwork at the point of sale.
  • PdA has the sole discretion to reject any artwork(s) at any time;
  • PdA promotes artwork(s) in our Artisan Shop as a whole on our social media channels (additionally, we have a dedicated Artisan Shop on Instagram), our website and in our newsletter. Additional promotion for the Holiday Artisan Shop includes event listings, promotion at events, a media release, social media posts, paid ads, print media and a celebrated opening reception with our Positively Petite Miniature Exhibition.
