Biography

Suze Mercado is a multidisciplinary artist, tattooist and yoga teacher. Her art practice explores identity through spontaneous artmaking and creative rituals – a synergy of discipline, intention and play. Suze has a holistic approach to artmaking with a focus on archetypal symbology, spirituality and transcendence. Her figurative works are often a vehicle for personal reflection and commentary on the human condition. Suze has a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art with a minor in Psychoanalysis, a Master’s equivalent degree in Art Therapy and a diploma in digital art from Selkirk College. She currently teaches painting, drawing and cartooning at Place des Arts.

Artist Statement

My art practice is fueled by a sense of wonder at the interconnectedness of our lives. My drive to teach comes from a desire to better our communities and enhance the ways we notice our lives intersecting and affecting one another.
