When I was a kid, I never thought about social justice issues. But, in grades 11 and 12 I’ve learned a lot about social justice, and I finally understand how important issues such as global warming and pollution are and the control of government entities. There are still some people who refuse to believe that these issues are real.

I started to think about how I can do my part about social issues. I realized that if I made art to raise awareness about social issues, then I may make a little bit of a difference in the world.

Chess Game of Government depicts people suffering from the government. The government works for people, but not all governments. Many governments in the world still think that people can be eliminated as needed as if they were playing a game of chess.

Hidden Secret was created to warn of global warming and pollution. It was made by attaching paper of various colours using magazines. The world in the painting looks beautiful, but the smoke from the factory continues to spread and the bottom of the river is coloured black with various pollutants thrown away by people. However, people don’t notice the ever-spreading pollution because they only believe in what they see. I wanted to let audiences know that we contribute to this hidden secret.

Earth of Crisis also talks about global warming. Global warming is a serious natural disaster created by humans. This is the result of ignoring nature’s protection and pursuing only the conveniences of life. This is causing serious damage to mankind, but the damage will be beyond imagination in the future. Globally, everyone must work together to solve this problem, but the reality is that this problem seems to be pushed back. I created this image to raise awareness by informing the public that if we continue to do this, we will eventually meet a gloomy future.

I love to work with all kinds of mediums, like collage, ink and pencil crayon. I also make sculptures in clay and mixed media and have a love for all art in general. I hope to go to Emily Carr University and study General Fine Arts.
