Artist Statement
My goal as an artist is to create work that evokes emotion and provokes thought. I believe that art has the power to connect people and inspire change. I like to think that the weirdest ideas can end up being the best ones because they make you think outside the box. This has become a strategy I started using in the early process stages of my work to build more creativity and give seemingly mundane subjects a mysterious aura that draws curiosity.

I get most of my inspiration from my family, so I would use themes in the jokes my parents make as my central idea to develop. For instance, I once took an ordinary pair of slippers and then over-expressed them in a piece.

I use a variety of materials when constructing artwork. I experiment with sketches and inking when I generate ideas and then slowly form what I end up with what I think matches it best, whether it be using digital software, watercolour, acrylic or a mix of it all.

My hope is that my art will inspire others to see that the best idea could be a small object right in front of them.
