Biography

I was born in Italy and immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia around the age of 5. I know all too well what it is like to be excluded based on my culture. Growing up in Vancouver, I was ostracized, ridiculed and picked on because of my culture… because I was different. My mom even changed my birth name (Giovanni Roberto) to Robert John to try and prevent teasing. All in all, I fared pretty well and am married to an Afro-Caribbean wife.

Artist Statement

This piece is representative of both multiculturalism and diversity as it depicts faces of different races and cultures.
