Current Place des Arts student

Biography

My name is Rebecca and I am 11 years old, and I have been coming to Place des Arts for 7 years. I am currently taking music lessons, art classes and summer camps! In the past, I have done pottery, painting, weaving and many other forms of art. I am really enjoying my Art Sampler class and especially my teacher, she helped to show me the connection between different types of art. I really liked painting with acrylic and sculpting with clay. In my spare time, I like to draw comics, animals and people.

Artist Statement

My artwork represents the magic of imagination, which can create wonder in the everyday moment. In my work, you can see the big blobs of colour, which represent colourful ideas and thoughts outside of the dull black-and-white world. I wanted to show that you do not have to search outside yourself to find the wonder in the every day, that it is truly all around you. I wanted to share this work with the Place des Arts community because I have never shown my work before and this gives me the chance to celebrate something I worked hard to develop, and it represents my creativity.
