I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, clay allows me to build detailed structures and illustrate things from my point of view and others.  I’m able to express my emotions through ceramics as well as my interests; I really like animals and firefighting.  Last year I recreated the Firehall that is used in the movie Ghostbusters.  I also enjoy trying to interpret famous artists work and turn it into clay ie, Van Gogh’s “The Bedroom”. Every little imperfection makes work even more unique; it also shows that ‘perfect’ is not a possible achievement. People view art in different ways whether it’s the actual meaning of the piece or just the fact that it’s an object.  Being able to show how I see things through art has always been a way to help me regulate emotions.  I’m extremely grateful to have had such amazing and supportive teachers help me improve my work overtime, as well as being able to have my art in a community art show last spring.  All the small details may seem like a lot during the process of building the piece, but in the end, it comes with great accomplishment.  Over time I’ve become more confident in making art that is more complex and it shows how much I’ve grown in my abilities.
