Artist Statement

I want to explore all sorts of mediums and art styles creating my portfolio and try new techniques that I have never done before. It is a good chance for me to explore and see what my strengths and weaknesses are creating art.

My theme in art is creating pieces with a lot of colour and something that is visually pleasing to me. I have also been interested in drawing and painting people that are unproportionate as well as having unique features such as big noses and ears, gap teeth, unibrows and long necks. Even though my art is not realistic in terms of the features, I like making my art detailed like how a human would look with their features still out of place. Even though I like drawing unrealistic humans, I still enjoy drawing realistic people which makes my artwork a mix of surreal and representational.

My aesthetic is lots of pop of colours and uniqueness that is carefully detailed or simple, but still pleasing to the eye. My artwork contains the feeling that I might be able to get out with words and feelings that are just too hard to explain. Since I am not a very vulnerable person, I find that I can paint it out instead of telling my story. I can talk about my struggles in life and how I’ve overcome those obstacles, and I want people who see my art to see the things that I have gone through whether it is big or small to relate and hopefully learn and grow from those experiences.
