Biography

Molly Gray is a Fraser Valley based multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in the Township of Langley, on the unceded territory of Kwantlen First Nation. Growing up surrounded by agricultural farmland, her work is often influenced by animals and nature. She enjoys working in many mediums, viewing her practice as a constant evolution of exploration and curiosity.

Gray holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with an honours in Studio Art from Bishop’s University (2009) and a Certificate in New Media Design and Web Development with distinction from British Columbia Institute of Technology (2011). For the last three years, Gray has been focused on a large series of mixed media (linocut and watercolour) birds printed to-scale, which has been exhibited in both dual and solo exhibitions throughout British Columbia.

Molly participated in her first Artist-in-Residence with the City of Abbotsford from May to October 2024. During this residency, Molly facilitated sixteen low-barrier community art engagements at locations around the city, with over 1500 participants in attendance.

In 2025, Molly received the third-place prize in the 3D category at the Langley Arts Council 6th Annual BC-Wide Exhibition artSpacific for her metal sculpture, titled “Urban Living with Raccoon”.

Artist Statement

I am a multidisciplinary, neurodivergent Canadian artist specializing in printmaking, painting, graphic illustration, community engaged arts, and most recently, steel sculpture.

My practice is driven by a deep desire to create with my hands, and connect with community. I create each piece through the lens of childish wonder, without expectation or judgement, which allows the act of creating to become a practice of mindfulness. This gives me a sense of purpose and joy, which can be seen in my art and facilitating style. My work often features Canadian landscapes, local flora and fauna, and ranges from fluid impressionism to illustrative realism.
