Raha Yousefi
Raha Yousefi is a Canadian Iranian vocalist and music educator with over eight years of experience in Persian traditional music. She has performed at international music festivals, concert tours, and contributed to film scores, including the Cannes-winning The Seed of the Sacred Fig. Raha has collaborated with renowned composers across Canada, Iran, and the U.S., cementing her reputation in the world of Persian classical music.
As a teacher, Raha’s philosophy is rooted in fostering cultural exchange through music. She tailors her lessons to each student’s needs, focusing on both technical vocal skills and the emotional depth of Persian music. Raha believes that understanding Persian vocal techniques is not only about mastering the craft but also about connecting deeply with the music and its cultural context. Whether teaching in-person or online, she creates a welcoming space for students from diverse backgrounds to explore this rich tradition.
Raha has taught at the Centre des Musiciens du Monde in Montreal and currently teaches in Vancouver. Her work has earned recognition, including the 2023 Global Music Award for her involvement in the Târ and History Project. Through both her performances and educational efforts, Raha continues to contribute to the cultural landscape, inspiring students and audiences alike with her expertise in Persian classical music.
