Molly Gray
Visual Arts
Molly Gray is a multidisciplinary, neurodivergent artist who lives and works in Langley, BC on the unceded territory of Kwantlen First Nation. She specializes in printmaking, painting, graphic illustration, community engaged arts and steel sculpture.
Molly’s practice is driven by a deep desire to create with her hands and connect with community. She creates each piece through the lens of childish wonder, without expectation or judgement, which allows the act of creating to become a practice of mindfulness. This approach gives her a sense of purpose and joy, which can be seen in her art and facilitating style. Her work often features Canadian landscapes, local flora and fauna, and ranges from fluid impressionism to illustrative realism.
Over the last three years, Gray has created a large mixed media series, titled “Avifauna”, which features birds of BC depicted to-scale. This body of work invites viewers to question their use of space and appreciate how we interact with nature.
In 2024, Molly completed a six-month residency with the City of Abbotsford where she provided a series of fun, accessible and interactive art engagements for the residents of that community. This residency introduced new media, techniques and a chance to connect to residents and artists. During this time it also unlocked a passion in Molly to share her knowledge and skills with others.
Gray has recently started working on her first steel sculpture for a new series titled “Undesirables”. This series will feature animals that have successfully adapted to urban living.
