					Ming Kong
Calligraphy and Ink Painting
Ming Kong began her traditional training in Chinese calligraphy at the age of seven. Brush and ink have been an integral part of her life ever since. Over the years, Ming has come to see this ancient art in a Contemporary context and continues to explore its connection to life today. She values calligraphy as a pure form of expression and believes each written character contains stories that transcend time and space. Her teaching philosophy is to help others find their mode of expression by unpacking the language of calligraphy.
Ming Kong has a master’s degree in Calligraphy from the Chinese Academy of Arts, Beijing. She has five years of work experience in an art gallery in Taipei, where so also studied traditional ink landscape painting under a senior researcher from the National Palace Museum, Taipei. In addition to traditional mediums of brush, ink and rice paper, Ming works primarily in mixed-media exploring themes of tradition versus modernity and cultural identity.
