Art, to me, is a form of speaking my deepest thoughts and expressing my fears without using words. The piece Alienated is very significant to me because it was created at a time when I was struggling to communicate with anyone, and art came through for me and allowed me to create a piece that told my story. It represents a period in my life when I felt like I didn’t have anyone and I felt isolated to the world. The head represents my thoughts and feelings at the time, with the little man trying to escape from inside the head to run from it’s thoughts. Art, to me, is a saviour. It makes me feel seen by myself, and in moments when I can’t fully process what is going on in my head, it serves as a lifeboat that helps me emerge from being stuck in my own thoughts.
