The main issue I address within my artwork manifests through the connection between nature and the development of technology. I begin the creation of all my pieces with the intent of storytelling, a journey to discover what is important in the artwork for the viewer rather than a single direct message. As my exploration of nature and technology is broad, through the details of colour within my piece, different ways individuals consider their connection with nature and technology are possible. I utilize poisoning as symbolism to show the negative effects advancement of technology could have on growth. This is seen through the deep blue and purple colours along with the unnatural saturation of the subjects. The bright saturation of colours relates to the increasing need to promote and attract attention to products, aligning with the trend of overconsumption. Nature has been designed to be more complex, more attractive, and deviate more from the original. Technology contributes through the promotion of these products, creation and design, and sets the unrealistic standard needed to appeal to the public. Through a story structure, I hope to express technology elevating nature to unrealistic levels, resulting in negative reactions between individuals and untampered nature.
