Artist Statement
Though my profession was nursing, I have always been drawn to the arts. I began taking pottery at Place des Arts while working and raising children, and I continued with ceramic arts for 25 years. I am a founding member of the local Tri City Potters. I also completed a certificate in Fine Arts from Emily Carr University. At that time, I learned the basics of drawing and painting, followed by lessons from local artists Tammy Pilon and Frank Townsley. I now attend regular painting sessions in Port Coquitlam and have been a member of the Vancouver Urban Sketchers for more than 5 years.
My preferred mediums are ink and watercolour, and I am actively enrolled in an online program of Urban Sketching taught by Ian Fennelly in England.
Although I enjoy watercolour painting, I have also come to love simple sketching. I intend to continue practicing and learning as long as I can.
Biography
As a child, I moved to Maillardville with my parents in the mid 1950’s. Though I have lived in other places, I am now a senior citizen and reside in Coquitlam. This is my home. Many things in Maillardville have changed over the years but some landmarks remain, and I treasure these spots.
