In recent years, I’ve been enjoying taking Visual Art classes. Oil and acrylic are my preferred media.
Artist Statement
I’ve taken Drawing Captivating Portraits with Cara Bain. I’ve never imagined that I would be able to draw a face. Yet, with Cara’s teaching, I found it not as difficult as I thought it would be. After that, I took oil painting classes and one of the subject matter was to paint a portrait. All that gave me confidence to undertake a portrait of my daughter from a graduation ball photo that I particularly liked.
I have always liked still life paintings, whether realistic or impressionistic painted by old masters or contemporary artists. During the winter session, I painted a still life with books and a cloth and it made me realize that this kind of subject suits me. The now exhibited piece is from a current oil painting class I am taking with Cara Bain. I’m fascinated that is possible to transfer onto canvas some still life setting and I can decide on a change of colour, proportion and even ambience of the painting.
