‘The silhouette of a polluted paradise’ Ceramics 2025
This piece is constructed using glazed ceramic, and a painted assemblage silhouette. The materials were chosen for their delicate nature, reflecting the current state of oceans around the world. The piece focuses on the accelerating decline of marine life and ecosystems, as well as the shrinking habitats of some of earth’s most magnificent and extraordinary species. The great manta ray and the whale shark, among the most majestic, resilient, pure and ancient beings on the planet are now gliding through waters polluted by the actions of us as human beings. The most remarkable animals of our world are now living through the consequences. The piece reflects a message I feel is extremely important today; it serves as a tribute and as a symbol of awareness, a reflection of the beauty at risk and the world we are neglecting.
