My art journey has traveled from oddly stripped childhood cats, through multiple diplomas from Emily Carr and working with well-known yet down-to-earth artist of renown, to joyful decades of mentoring amazing SD43 student artists, to my current rather eclectic art making practice. I often struggle to squeeze in art for myself and for friends during these teaching years of focusing most of my creative energy on my students. The last decade of my own artwork has been less ‘high-art’ and more ‘heart-art’ centered on what has meaning for myself and others as connected to both fellow humans and the broader natural world. For others I tend to create more traditional works in which I hope they find beauty, peace and connection. Artworks I do for myself edge ugly — exploring psychologically and re-working media — leaving unanswered questions.
