Current student at Place des Arts (2024/2025 season)

Biography

We moved to Canada from the UK in 2009 with our 3 young children. Since then, Place des Arts has been a place of learning, fun and inspiration for each member of our family. We have found peace in viewing the many wonderful exhibitions of artwork, fun and friends with classes in drama, dance and ceramics, and satisfaction in learning to use instruments – violin, piano and voice. For me, this is a sanctuary from the bustle of daily life. There is nothing better than sitting in peace in the atrium and watching the community come and go.

Artist Statement

I took my first ceramics class at Place des Arts as a way to find something just for me, away from the daily round of home and children and work. I soon discovered that ceramics is the perfect therapy for a perfectionist like me.  No matter how experienced we become, we learn to expect the unexpected at every stage of the process and roll with the changes as they happen, but at the end of each semester we take home things that become treasured parts of our daily lives. These incense burners were inspired by another member of the Place des Arts family, and I really enjoyed the fun of putting all the details into the piece.
