Artist Statement
“What I desire to paint is endless…what I take time to paint is my passion!”
I hope to use colour to show nature as seen through my eyes onto a piece of canvas. I work mostly with acrylics, oil pastels and various mixed medias. I like to embed thoughtful textures into my artwork to convey energy, movement and subtle details. Faith and nature are my guide as well as great artists like Monet and Van Gogh. I hope each art piece will allow the viewer to feel the inward significance of the artwork that I create from my heart.
Biography
Jacelyn loves painting and likes creating art that conveys the same sense of beauty and meaning that inspired her. When she’s painting recognizable subjects or abstract art, colour combinations are her focus. Her art contains energetic brushwork, palette knife work and blended paints using acrylic, watercolour and a variety of mixed media. She embeds texture into her art pieces to convey energy and always attempts to capture the essence of beauty in her work.
Each piece is finished with a UV protecting varnish that prevents yellowing or fading of colours. Her work can be hung framed or unframed. All edges are carefully painted, making it ready-to-hang. Jacelyn hopes to continue to be inspired by family and friends, nature and the beauty that surrounds us, including landscapes, flowers and animals.
Although largely self taught, she has attended various art workshops with professional artists. Jacelyn is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a long-time member of the Burnaby Artists Guild. She has also participated annually in juried art shows organized in the various communities of the Fraser Valley.
