My artistic practice focuses on exploring the intersections of identity, culture, and personal narratives. My work is often inspired by Turkey’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary social issues. By blending traditional motifs with modern interpretations, I aim to create a visual dialogue that bridges the past and the present.
Interwoven Universes: In this piece, color, texture, and material come together to convey a meaningful narrative. One of the primary materials I used is clay, a medium I had little experience with before. While working with it presented challenges, I embraced the process and found it rewarding to translate my vision into reality. The project began with a concept inspired by storytelling, specifically one of my favorite animated films, Coraline. The film played a significant role in shaping this piece, as I reimagined a scene that doesn’t exist in the movie and brought it to life in a tangible form.
For me, art is a bridge between imagination and reality, offering viewers a chance to explore new perspectives. I aim to create works that provoke thought and stir emotions, inviting people to ask themselves, “What if?” This piece embodies that philosophy by blending the familiar and the imagined, leaving space for viewers to draw their own interpretations.
Ultimately, this project reflects my commitment to using art as a tool for storytelling and emotional connection. By visualizing an alternate scene from Coraline and interpreting it through an unfamiliar medium, I hope to inspire curiosity and open a window to a new world of possibilities.
