Benefits of this Project

A project like this will help with dexterity, improve hand-eye coordination and encourage kids to express their creativity. It also provides you with a handy tool to never lose your spot in a book you’re reading.

Supplies

In your Kit:

  • Construction Paper
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pom poms

At Home:

  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Tape

Instructions

  1. Fold the construction paper from one corner of the short side to the longer side, making sure that the long and short sides are completely aligned.
  2. Cut off the rectangle at the bottom below the folded part to create a square. The size of the square will dictate the size of the bookmark. If you want a smaller bookmark, you need to make a smaller square.
  3. Then fold the opposite corners together to create a square with folds that create triangles.
  4. Cut out one of the triangles.
  5. Now with your three-triangle page, fold in the two flaps and tape them together so you have a little pocket.
  6. Now use your googly eyes, construction paper, markers, glue and tape to design your monster bookmark!

We would love to see your magical creations! Share your monster bookmarks on social media by tagging @pdacoquitlam and using the hashtag #PdAMonsterBookmarks.
