Acrylic Painting in the Mezzanine

What do birds see in the world around us?

Avians are known to have the most richly endowed visual system of any vertebrate. They are tetrechromats, which means the photoreceptors in their retinas have four types of cone cells: red, green, blue and ultraviolet. This allows them to see a vast range of the colour spectrum that is impossible for humans to perceive.

I am fascinated by the existence of colours we haven’t even dreamed of! These paintings are my attempt to imagine how the world may look through the eyes of our avian friends.
