With a growing city and a rapidly changing economic landscape, many local businesses in Coquitlam may not be around tomorrow. Each business owner has a personal story about why they opened their store. Coquitlam Heritage has documented corner stores that serve our community. These stores not only offer their services to the community, but they are part of the rich visual and cultural canvas of our city landscape.

Coquitlam Heritage asked photographer Jonathan Desmond to visually explore this part of Coquitlam and capture some of our community’s corner stores. Interviews were conducted with store owners so they could share their stories.
