Over the past 25 years I have embraced the creative process as an integral part of my life. For me, painting and creating are about adventure, possibilities, and above all, freedom. When I enter the creative process I am transported into a universe where all things are permitted and all outcomes are possible; a universe of simple abandon in which I reconnect to a sense of simplicity and joy that often gets buried beneath the pretense and fast-pace of our day-to-day lives. A place in which I can fully express the free spirit and creative impulse that is within me.

How I work, the materials I choose to work with, and the subjects I paint all reflect my desire for creating with abandon, embracing possibilities, and having a fun adventure while doing it. Watercolours, inks, and fluid acrylics, with their unpredictable and free-flowing nature are perfect with this end in mind, as is mixing media to see what can happen through creative juxtapositions. Likewise, working in a semi-representational way on subjects that often tap into a level of whimsy also allows me to freely explore and express the energy of lines, the beauty of forms, and the brilliance of colours.

Ultimately, in all my paintings I try to expose the bright side of life to my viewers. To remind them that the universe truly is a magical place, with its timeless rhythms, cycles, and interconnections that bind us all both in the present, and with the past and future.
