Artist Statement

My body of work explores complex ideas through the human form and the vivacious energy of nature. What interests me most is the veil between what people express and what stays hidden, what we can know about each other and what remains unknown. In my most recent work, I’ve developed a unique approach of combining oil painting with copper leaf patina. I embrace the chemical process of the copper-turned-blue-green to disintegrate motifs and forms. It reminds me of the impermanence of what we try to grasp and the beauty that can be found in decay.
