Artist Statement

During adolescence, I began to unravel my thoughts and feelings. When I was younger, I could not understand my emotions or how to release them. I concealed myself from others and it was hard for me to communicate. My interest and attachment to art became strong. Art for me has become a way to communicate and express my emotions, and I am absorbed in my artwork. For me art is expression and provides me with comfort and strength when faced with difficult emotions and situations. When others look at my art, I intend that they feel a release of emotion.

Everyone experiences the innate feeling of desire; it is the impulse that we feel the most. A theme in my artwork is expression of the desire that I have felt in my life. I show the feeling of desire through depicting the cells of the eyes and brain. I use the technique of overlapping and intensifying colours to convey the eyes, nerves and brain as the source of the impulse of desire. I often depict detailed cells and tissues in several intense colours. I seek to express the depth of innate emotion and depict the lack of control people have over their inherent emotions.
