My background in drawing and traditional printmaking shaped my approach to photography, which I initially used only as a tool for gathering visual ideas. Over time, I became drawn to photography’s ability to capture fine detail, studying the medium in depth and progressing from 35mm to large-format cameras while exploring alternative printing processes. After working extensively with Kallitype, and Tri-Colour Gum printing, I discovered carbon transfer, a pigment-based process that I have practiced since 2009 and that now defines my work. Focused on man-made structures and history, I value carbon printing for its tactile surface, rich tonal range, and flexibility with colour and materials. Working in carbon has allowed me to return to photography as a hands-on, expressive form of printmaking.
