I like to use art as a method to express emotions that cannot always be conveyed with words. Art provides an outlet for complex feelings, and for me, it’s a way to process and communicate those aspects of myself that are often left unspoken. I tend to gravitate towards surrealism because it allows me to stretch the boundaries of reality where I can explore my inner experiences. I use this style as an extension of reality, offering a space where personal struggles can be examined and confronted.
In this particular piece, I incorporated themes of transformation, freedom, and the nature of beauty. I wanted to visualize the feeling of dissociation that often accompanies personal turmoil, as well as the growing need for distraction in our increasingly fast-paced society. Butterflies are a significant motif in my work because, despite my fear of them, I find them beautiful. By using figures like these, I aim to create an atmosphere that is both alluring and haunting, blurring the line between attraction and discomfort.
