Calling emerging actors ages 15 – 18!

Under professional director Jessica Nelson, a company of 10 young actors ages 15-18 (must be 15 by July 2, 2019) will rehearse an original adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest and perform it at Town Centre Park Plaza from Tuesday July 23 – Sunday July 28, 2019.

Rehearsals begin Tuesday July 2, 2019.
As this is a short-term, intensive program, all actors must be available for all rehearsals. Exact rehearsal schedule and other information will be released at the audition.

General Audition Information

When: Saturday, May 11, 3:00 – 6:00 pm
Where: Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Avenue, Coquitlam)
What: Actors will need to prepare a one-minute classical monologue of your choice. If you have any musical talents, prepare a song of your choice or, if you play an instrument, please bring it along and be prepared to play. A keyboard will be supplied for those with piano skills.
Honorarium: Each actor cast in the show will receive a $500 honorarium

Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in and bring a bottle of water.

We will be looking for young actors with a strong commitment to the work and a willingness to have fun!

About Jessica Nelson
Jessica Anne Nelson is an award-winning theatre director, creator, producer and Intimacy Coordinator with an MFA in Directing from UBC. She’s won the Best Site-Specific Show Award, the Sydney J. Risk Award in Directing and the Yvonne Firkins Prize.

Past directing credits include, Arthur Miller’s, The Crucible, Girls, Girls, Girls, and the award-winning production of Ithaka. Most recently, Jessica directed the stage reading of Consensual by Evan Placey. Jessica has worked with many theatre companies including, Only Animal, Itsazoo, The Cultch and Bard on the Beach. Next, Jessica will be Artist-in-Residence for the City of Port Coquitlam, Sep-Dec 2019.
