Artist Statement

Emissary is a series of miniature mixed media illustrations processing the challenges of isolation and longing experienced during the COVID pandemic. This work explores the concept of birds as the bearers of hope and perseverance. The hidden mantras in each piece are transformed into symbolic birdsong veiled within the sinuous lines and spiral patterns that make up the background in this series. Each piece is a meditation, focused on the single word woven into the whisp-like background, witnessed by the feathered agent ready to carry the intention of that reflection towards its goal.
