Artist Statement

My artwork is driven by my desire to normalize the human body-in particular female “private parts.” Women have long suffered ignorance, sexualization and shame.

I want my artwork to embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of each person’s body. In “Uniquity” I create a series, repeating the same female parts out of different materials including craft supplies, wire, jewels and thread. All three forms share the same general shape, but they are juxtaposed against one another through the variety in material.

I hope to attend Emily Carr University to study in their General Fine Arts program, like my father before me.
