Registration: the process of establishing a client identity and account containing client/family details
Session Class or Workshop: teaching a group of students for a set number of classes in the Fall, Winter or Spring.
Sep-Jun Class: teaching a group of students from the beginning of September to the end of June.
Private Lesson: teaching one (private) student, two (semi-private) or three (trio) students.
Enrolment: the process of selecting and paying for a class/lesson. Enrolment can take place at the same time as registration.
Enrolment Modifications: A date, time and/or fee change that is made to the original class/lesson enrolment.
Withdrawal: A student enrolled in any Place des Arts program requesting to cancel the enrolment and receive a refund.
Withdrawal fee for in-person and/or online Sep-Jun classes and Private Lessons: A fee equal to one class/lesson fee will be charged to students withdrawing from Sep-Jun classes/lessons.
Refund: The return of class(es)/lesson(s) fees to the student. A refund can be issued by Place des Arts cheque, credited back to the credit card used to make the original payment or credited to the student’s Place des Arts account.
Cancellation: One or more class(es)/lesson(s)or an entire set of class(es)/lesson(s)cancelled by Place des Arts for one of the following reasons:
Make-up: Class(es)/lesson(s) offered to students in lieu of cancelled class(es)/lesson(s) as noted above.
Missed Class(es)/lesson(s): Class(es)/lesson(s) not attended on the initiative of the student (e.g. illness, going away on vacation).
Service Fee: A fee charged for NSF cheques, declined credit card payments and customer Enrolment Modifications.
Online Processing Fee: A non-refundable fee charged to clients enrolling online.

Fall/Winter/Spring Session Classes and Workshops
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis for new and returning students. Registration will not be accepted without full payment of the class/workshop fees.
Registration for Sep-Jun classes and Private Lessons
Registration for returning students traditionally opens in the spring each year. Registration for new students traditionally opens in June each year and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will not be accepted without full payment or pre-authorized payment of all class/lesson fees. Payment must be submitted for the months of September to June at the time of registration either in full or by pre-authorized payment. Supply fees and deposits are due at the time of registration.
Note: Students are not considered registered until payment has been received. A verbal agreement with your teacher does not constitute registration.
Registration Fees
All registration fees are payable in full at the time of enrolment and are non-refundable. Registration fees are applied to enrolment transactions and cover administrative costs associated with registering customers, enrolling students, payment processing and transaction fees associated with the registration software, managing customer accounts and maintaining studios and equipment (e.g. sound systems, pianos, kilns, studio tables and chairs).

Registration fees are included in the total cost.
Registration fee: Sep-Jun classes and private lessons
Registration fees are charged on top of the total cost. If the student remains enrolled in at least one Sep-Jun class or private lesson, the registration fee applies to an unlimited number of Sep-Jun enrolments per student, per season.
Enrolment Modifications
A student may make up to one (1) enrolment modification for their Sep-Jun class/lesson per season including, private lesson time change, moving to a different class or a different private lesson teacher. A $15 service fee will be applied to any additional modifications initiated by the student.
Failed Payments
A $15 service fee will be charged to the student/parent for any failed pre-authorized payment.
Insufficient enrolment for a class
Place des Arts reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrolment. Place des Arts will notify students/parents at least 48 hours prior to the start of a class. We will attempt to reschedule each student for another class at a convenient time. If this is not possible a refund will be granted. Supplies for classes should not be purchased by the student until a few days before the class start date to avoid unnecessary expenditures if the class is cancelled. Please note: online processing fees are non-refundable.
GST
GST is charged on all registration fees (except music) for students ages 15 years and over.
Non-refundable online Processing fee
Please be advised that all online transactions are subject to a non-refundable 4.5% processing fee (calculation based on enrolment) charged by Active Network Ltd., our online registration software provider. Place des Arts cannot refund this processing fee for withdrawals or cancellations since it is not refunded to Place des Arts by ActiveNet.
