Trumpet

Chris Berner is a trumpet player, composer, and arranger based in Vancouver, BC. He recently completed a Master of Music in Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto (2022) after graduating with an undergraduate degree from Capilano University (2018). Chris has studied trumpet with Brad Turner, Gareth Jones and Chase Sanborn and composition and arranging with Fred Stride, Terry Promane, and John Korsrud. He has been fortunate enough to write and arrange music for Bria Skonberg, Peter Bernstein, Pat LaBarbara, Rich Brown, and the Hard Rubber Orchestra, as well as his own eponymous jazz orchestra. Chris’ teaching philosophy centers around sharing his enthusiasm for music in all forms, and helping students achieve their musical goals through playing music tailored to each student, in addition to working on repertoire and technique.
