Artist Statement

My artwork is filled with emotion. I often plan how to combine art and story in a way that is intertwined with my own identity. My life is inspiration to me in every piece that I create.

As I discover new skills and materials, my artwork gains uniqueness. I find the path of learning new techniques difficult and interesting, and I study art non-stop. I grew up with minimal communication skills, however art has helped me convey my ideas and feelings. Art is the way I express how I feel about my environment.

Art has helped me to get through tough times. When I moved to Canada, the differences between my first language and English were painful for me. People could not understand me, which caused me to feel depressed and I isolated myself.

Depression and unfortunate happenings are the main topics I focus on. By putting my own journey into my art, I hope my audience can understand me. I also believe that by leaving physical art pieces in this world I can edify my life. I intend that the audience can sense how I feel and realize there is someone suffering with them.

The world is never an easy place to live in. My small hope is to connect with my audience and to make friends with them as they look into my artwork.
