Biography

I’ve always been drawn to anything artistic, whether exclusively handcrafted objects or fine paintings. I am an avid admirer of the great talent around us and get inspired constantly.

Artist Statement

About 28 years ago, soon after I arrived from Winnipeg and settled in Maillardville, I registered for a weaving course at Place des Arts and first learned to make a tapestry. I also learned about woven fabrics, utilizing various weaving looms that Place des Arts supplied. The practice of weaving taught me patience, a trait I hadn’t thought was in me. In between fibre art classes, I also took ceramic classes mainly to handbuild, using the slab roller and moulds to create vessels. All the skills I’ve learnt were useful and provided a good base for other classes I took: bookbinding, sculpture, drawing and painting. My life is richer since being immersed in art and fine craft.
