Artist Statement
I am inspired by what resides in the dark, dusty corners of attics, basements and our minds, full of history, recollection and the jagged edges of collective memory. While authenticity is sought, access to the past is mediated by stories, cultural myths and the lens of current social understandings and dislocations. Fragments and layers with texture and imagery reference the character of personal and group memory. This work is created to celebrate restorative nostalgia and offers an opportunity for reflection and realization.
