Fibre Art and Mixed Media in the Leonore Peyton Salon

Please note: the Leonore Peyton Salon is a multi-purpose space; therefore, viewing times are limited. Please call 604.664.1636 for viewing availability prior to your visit.

Stitched Together showcases the diverse approaches of three fibre artists, Karlie Norrish McChesney, Robin Fischer and Karen Johnson. While each artist handles their materials in their own way, the elements of line and form are a commonality between them. Their imagery uniquely reflects their individual artistic styles and interests. However, for all three artists, the interaction of colour alongside an exploration of design and technique is important to their artistic processes.

Geometry and mathematics inspire Karlie. She loves to solve puzzles, especially those that are three-dimensional. Her work builds on her love of puzzles, exploring how three-dimensional models can be represented in a two-dimensional format through the depiction of depth and volume.

Robin is continually inspired by her garden and creates collages of intensely coloured organic shapes. She combines fabric, paper and various substrates in a synergy of design and process.

The exploration of line is ongoing for Karen. The interplay of lines crossing, connecting and forming shapes is the starting point for her work, and the outcome is always unique.

Friendship and a love of working with textiles keeps Robin, Karen and Karlie “Stitched Together.”
